#40 | CIVILIAN BAR & KITCHEN

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

Lobster Popcorn with salted aioli
Duck Fat Potatoes
Whole Byron Bay Suckling Pig

We came here on a weeknight for a 6pm booking. It was empty then, with only two tables being occupied (including ours), but had filled up quickly by 7pm. We were told that the menu was designed for sharing, so we decided to go with two entrees and one main, which worked out to be more than enough for the two of us. Everything we had was delicious. The potatoes were nicely crisp and the lobster popcorn very moist and fleshy with every bite. It might look like there's a lot of lobster, but the bottom half of the basket was actually filled with shredded lettuce. Our main, the suckling pig, was served de-boned and rolled in-house   porchetta style with some salad and roasted veggies on the side. The pork was crispy on the outside and nicely tender on the inside. We had actually wanted dessert as well, but all the wait staff were busy at that time. It took them over 10 minutes to bring the dessert menu over, so we decided to just wrap it up. Overall, Civilian Bar and Kitchen is a great restaurant to dine at. The place had a great atmosphere, with both indoor and outside sitting, and very delicious food.
