#260 | HAI AU LANG NUONG

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

Silver Perch Steamboat
Grilled Scallops
Grilled Quail
Grilled Mix Plate

One of my favourite local is Hai Au Lang Nuong, a Vietnamese grill restaurant at Canley Vale. If you randomly walked past this restaurant, you'd definitely be stopped in your tracks from the scent and delicious aroma wafting out of this place. And if you're around during dinner time, it'll be hard not to notice this place is always packed full of diners. We got a good few dishes from the menu to share. We had had the silver perch steamboat in canh chua (Vietnamese sweet and sour soup). Wait for the soup to simmer and then move all the outer ingredients into it to cook. Grab a bowl of steamed rice, fill it with the soup and enjoy it with the fish and veggies. That dish itself is good between 2-3 people. We also had the grilled scallops with shallots, dried shrimp and vermicelli, and the grilled quail. Both are delicious starters that are great for sharing. The last thing we got were a mix plate for rice paper rolls. There were spring rolls, bo la lot which is marinated beef wrapped in betel leaf and grilled, bbq pork and chao tom which are sugar cane prawns. You'll be given some rice paper with this mix plate, and what you do is make a wrap with bits of the different salads and pickles, the banh hoi which are rice noodles, and finish it off with a meat of your choice (or you can add a bit of each different meat in the one wrap if you like). Dip your wrap in fish sauce and enjoy.
