#02 | TRAVEL DIARY: PENANG

PENANG, MALAYSIA

We headed to Penang right after Singapore, and spent around 3 days on this island that's commonly known as the 'Pearl of the Orient'. Staying at the state capital of Georgetown, we got to see many colourful shophouses, visited the clan jetties, trekked out to Air Itam to see Kek Lok Si temple and feasted - hawker-style - at Gurney Drive. We covered most of the sights around Georgetown on an old-fashioned trishaw - which I thought was a really cool way to sightsee. Make sure to pay attention to the walls in the inner city of Georgetown as you might be able to still see some of Ernest Zacharevic's beautiful murals - unfortunate for us, we were only able to spot one.

Next stop, Kuala Lumpur!
