#51 | DAMNOEN SADUAK FLOATING MARKET

RATCHABURI, THAILAND

One thing to do when you're in Bangkok, is to actually get out of Bangkok city and visit the colourful floating markets. There's a number of them around Bangkok and it's surrounds. The one we went to was the most well-known (and touristy) in Thailand; the Damnoen Saduak floating market in Ratchaburi. The floating market was a little over an hour away from Bangkok, and we came here via a tour, which is probably the simplest way to get here as a tourist. Arriving at our destination, we hopped on a motorised long tail boat which took us through narrow canals to see wooden houses on stilts and visit the various goods and food vendors around the market. We alight after 20 minutes or so and found ourselves among stalls selling clothing, souvenirs and fresh fruit. There's plenty of food to try along the docks, and that is exactly what we made sure to do before leaving; grilled pork on skewers, pad thai, noodle soup, mango sticky rice and some fresh pomelo. The floating markets was a really fun experience and a must see and do for all visitors to Bangkok.
