BALI, INDONESIA
In our last night in Ubud, we dined at Nusantara by Locavore, a restaurant whose menu features classic Indonesian dishes from all the various regions of Indonesia. What was really pleasing was how this place didn't have the typical dishes like mi goreng or nasi goreng on their menu, which gave us the chance to try other local and authentic Indonesian dishes. We began with a complimentary taster wheel of Indonesian snacks, which was such a nice surprise and a nice start to our meal. The menu is designed to be shared, so we got a bunch of different dishes to have with rice. We had some squid, pork, chicken and beef and of course, room in our bellies to share 2 different desserts. All the dishes we tried were unlike any other kind of Indonesian foods we know of. The flavours were all so different, but still uniquely Indonesian.
