#58 | BEST BOAT NOODLES

BANGKOK, THAILAND

On our last day in Bangkok, we took a quick trip to Victory Monument in the afternoon to try out some boat noodles. From BTS Victory Monument, get to Boat Noodle Alley (it's a less than 10 minute walk) and here you'll find a whole row of boat noodle restaurants. The one we went to is called Best Boat Noodle, which is pretty much the first one in the alley. There's a menu on the table with about 4 varieties of soup and 5 varieties of noodles to choose from. We didn't know what kind of noodles they had, so our waiter brought over a box of sample to help us out. We tried all the items on their menu - thicken soup with pork, thicken soup with beef, sour soup with pork and brewed bean curd - and with our noodles, we also ordered a bowl of streaky pork with crispy crackling and fried dumplings. Our favourite was the thicken soup with either pork or beef, which we ordered a second round of. Our least enjoyable noodle was the brewed bean curd soup which smelt very foul, almost like sewerage. Definitely not one for the faint-hearted. All up, we had 13 bowls of noodles and 2 bowls of crackling between the two of us.
