#234 | TRAVEL DIARY: KONNICHIWA TOKYO!

TOKYO, JAPAN

We are back in Japan, and I could not be happier!! We found discounted flights and it's for travel during cherry blossom season as well, so we just had to jump on it. Our visit was also extra special this time round because mum, dad, my brother and his girlfriend came with us. No one else in this group apart from myself and my boyfriend has been to Japan before, and we just knew they'd love it as much as we did. It really didn't take much to convince them to come along haha. Our first stop was Tokyo, and given that it was cherry blossom season, we had many parks and garden visits in our itinerary, in addition to the other popular places and sights of interest such as Senso-ji, Tsukiji Fish Market, Harajuku, Akihabara and Ueno. We stayed at Shibuya and it's a great area to stay at for the city life experience and for the all round good transportation connections. The cherry blossoms were amazingly beautiful, and it was clear that everyone thought the same because the parks and gardens we went to were constantly full of people; both locals and visitors. In a way, the crowd did have an impact to the viewing experience and our overall enjoyment, but hey, can't complain too much because those pink trees were just so lovely, and it made sense that many people are also out to see it. We generally avoid travelling during peak season, but we didn't want to miss the opportunity to witness something this beautiful. Mum and dad loved 7-Eleven and the other convenience stores like Family Mart, and so did we haha! Mum loves their egg salad sandwich, which is really THE BEST, and dad goes for the steamed buns. These 2 items are great, and I enjoy them too. What's also really yummy, and surprisingly so, are the fried chicken at Family Mart. I don't know how they're able to keep it so well, but it always tastes freshly made. To make it more incredible, it's from a convenience store! Crazy! Everyone enjoyed their time in Tokyo, but after around 5 days, it was time to move on. Over to Kyoto next!
