#90 | UME BURGER

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

Ebi Burger
Ume Burger
Koji Fried Chicken
Hot Chips with Umami Salt
Soft Serve

The Streets of Barangaroo is seriously killing the Sydney food scene. There's so many great restaurants here it's hard to pick a favourite! Feeling hungry after work one afternoon, we walked to Barangaroo to grab ourselves some burgers for dinner. Things didn't go as planned when we saw the menu, and we ended up ordering a lot more than what we originally had in mind. For our burgers, we had the Ebi with handmade prawn katsu, Japanese tartare sauce and shredded cabbage, and also their signature Ume burger with beef pattie, wagyu mince sauce, truss tomato, onion, mayo and American cheese. The Ume Burger kind of tastes like a sloppy joe, but the Ebi Burger was amazing. We loved the crispy exterior and the moist, but firm prawn interior. It was so good. We also grabbed a bowl of fried chicken and hot chips with umami salt. I'm struggling to get my head around what umami is, but it's the description of a flavour. It's meaty and broth-like tasting. Kind of like a variation of chicken salt. Hard to describe, but it tastes really good. Finally, we pushed our stomaches a little more and got a strawberry and shiso soft serve, that was self served. You pay for it at the counter and they'll give you a cone to take to the machine near where the tables and chairs are, and help yourself. This made it extra fun to have dessert, but also a little disappointing because we could have done a better job (and have more soft serve).
