FIORDLAND NATIONAL PARK, NEW ZEALAND
Milford Sound is a fiord in the northern end of Fiordland National Park, located about 4 hours away from Queenstown. We joined Jucy Cruize for a day tour and boat cruise around Milford Sound. Before the visit, I saw so many beautiful photos of a sunny Milford Sound with crystal clear water but when I read up on it in more detail, I found out that it was considered the wettest inhabited place in New Zealand and one of the wettest in the world with rain almost all year round! I was hoping to be lucky enough to get the odd sun-shining day, but was stuck with the wind and rain. But despite this, it was still a spectacular place to see. Gorgeous scenery on our drive there (as is the case with any place in South Island), and on the cruise, we saw amazing cliffs that rose to the sky from the dark waters and magnificent waterfalls that appeared to have multiplied due to the rain. For those planning to visit, do bring a jacket with you because it does get cold from the wind, and possibly a change of clothes (or another jacket) in case it gets wet.
