#121 | NOLA SMOKEHOUSE & BAR

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

House-made bread
Rangers Valley Black Onyx Brisket
Organic Chicken
Fillet Steak Au Poivre
Mac 'N' Cheese
Fries

It was after work, and we thought we'd go get some food before heading home. Unsure of what to have, the boy suggested NOLA, which was a newly opened restaurant very close to his workplace at Barangaroo. Without knowing much about the menu, we gave it try. We started with a basket of house-made bread and what's cool was that it included cornbread, which is not something you'd usually find in Sydney, so it's great that this place has it. To share, we grabbed a 200gram serving of brisket that's been rubbed and smoked for 14 hours and 200grams of brined, smoked and blackened chicken. Both meats were tender and very flavoursome. We also had the steak and bone marrow hash, a side of mac 'n' cheese with maple bacon and pretzels and a bowl of chilli and eschalot salted fries. We enjoyed everything that we ordered, and were sufficiently stuffed by the end of our meal. Not only is NOLA a very nice restaurant to dine at, it's also a great place for casual afterwork drinks and some light-hearted chit chat.
