#122 | GRAND CANYON DAY TOUR

ARIZONA, USA

We took a day trip out to the Grand Canyon with Grand Canyon Destinations while we were staying at Las Vegas. It was a very long day trip starting with a 6-7am pick up and we didn't arrive back into the city until about 8.30pm that evening. With the tour options that we found, we decided to go see the South Rim of the canyon, which has been described as being much deeper, wider, more colourful and generally just more picturesque than the West Rim. It was also a lot further away, which explains why this tour was so long. We did make some pitt stops along the way, including the Hoover Dam and a quick lunch break at the iconic Route 66, where our packed lunches were waiting for us. The lunch was part of the tour cost, and although it wasn't anything fancy, it was really simple and delicious. In our boxes was a sandwich (ham or turkey), an apple, a chocolate chip cookie, a small bag of crips and a mini chocolate bar. When we finally made it to the canyon, what we saw was just amazing. The views were insanely spectacular! We were given some time to walk around at our own leisure which we thoroughly enjoyed. Because it got so late, we had a dinner stop at McDonalds on our long journey back, which was a major crowd pleaser. Although most of our time was spent on the road, being able to see the Grand Canyon in person was definitely worth the while. Our driver and guide was also super cool and funny, and extremely chatty, which made the drive surprisingly enjoyable.
