SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA
It was the boy's birthday last week, and I really wanted to make it extra special this time. In the second year of our relationship (3 years ago), I got him gift cards to Kings Comics and Kinokuniya, to be used a few days after his birthday at Free Comic Book Day. From that birthday onwards, it's become a tradition and the way we celebrate his special day has remained unchanged ever since. I would always ask him if he wanted something different, but he always says no and that he loves his Free Comic Book Day weekend. So every year, we'd wake up early on the first Saturday of May, head into the city to visit Kings Comics and Kinokuniya, and pick up some gifts. He usually walks away with a statue or two and some comic books. We did things a little differently this time - I booked us a room at the Hilton for the weekend, which was a nice added touch to his usual birthday celebrations.
We stayed in one of their basic rooms which had a nice bed, great shower and was overall very comfortable. Also in our room was some sweets and a message that said 'Happy Anniversary'. They must have left the wrong message, but it still such a nice gesture. Lucky for us, a friend of mine got us an upgrade which gave us access to the hotel's Executive Lounge, and we made very well sure to take full advantage of it. On our first morning, we had a quick workout at the gym, and then went to the Lounge for their Continental breakfast buffet. After spending the morning at Comic Book Day, we came back to our room for a break and swim, and then headed to the Lounge again for evening drinks and canapés. It was great, we loved the Lounge so much! That night, we stayed in and watched the first Iron Man movie on tv and just relaxed. The boy's been working very hard lately, so it was definitely a treat for him. We both thoroughly enjoyed our little staycation in Sydney.
