#141 | THE GRIDDLE CAFE

LOS ANGELES, USA

The Golden Ticket
"Poached y Papas" Benedict

After an online search for a place nearby for breakfast, we found Griddle Cafe. This cafe was definitely very popular. There was quite a long line of hungry customers outside the establishment, waiting to get in as we arrived. So we did the same. Looking around at the other tables, and despite the large serving sizes, everyone had a plate to themselves, so I guess it was only natural that we did the same. We had the Poached y Papas Benedict which was a thick slice of baked ham and two poached eggs atop a seasoned potato skin, covered in hollandaise sauce and some avocado. Griddle Cafe also had an extensive list of pancake options on their menu, so we gave those a go as well. We chose the Golden Ticket, which was brown sugar baked bananas cooked inside their buttermilk pancake, filled with caramel, walnuts and streusel, and topped with whipped cream. It was really such a  big meal. We finished the benedict (with a lot of effort), but had more than half a plate of pancakes leftover, which we had packed to go. Pictures might not do it justice, but the pancakes were huge! We noticed that many people around us also couldn't finish their pancakes, and asked for it to go. The food here was good, and we were very satisfied as we left. For those wondering, we had our leftover pancakes later that night and the next morning.
