#171 | HO JIAK MALAYSIAN STREET FOOD

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

Crispy KFC Rendang
Bak Chor Mee
Kapitan Kay Rice

Happy Australia Day everyone! We've been having such hot days in Sydney, and today was no exception. I'm honestly ready to say goodbye to summer. It's been such a killer! We visited Ho Jiak for lunch some weekends ago. Ho Jiak is a Malaysian restaurant with 2 locations in Sydney - Haymarket and Strathfield. The one we dined at was the Haymarket branch. We had the Crispy KFC Rendang, which as the name literally suggests, is crispy KFC covered in sweet and spicy curry sauce. Seemed like such a novelty item (and fairly pricey at $38), but it was actually quite tasty. We also had the Bak Chor Mee which is dry egg noodles with a variety of different cuts of pork tossed in vinegar and chilli, and the Kapitan Kay Rice which is rich and dry nonya flavoured chicken curry. Overall we had a great meal. We ordered a little too much food for 2 people, so were completely stuffed by the end of it. Ho Jiak has a pretty extensive menu, so if we come back next time, we'd be keen to check out the other items they have.
