LONDON, ENGLAND
Popadoms
Garlic Naan
Chicken Tikka Blast
Lamb Korma
There's a large British Indian population in London, which is a sure sign that there's good Indian food in London! We ventured out to Brick Lane one evening, unsure of which curry house to try out, but decided to go with Aladin's after noticing the large sign out front that said "Listed on the BBC as one of the world's best curry houses". No way we can wrong with place. Dining on Brick Lane was also a real experience. As you walk down the street passing by one restaurant after another, there were people outside each one calling you out, showing you the menu, and trying to get you to come in. I didn't expect this at all, and it was a little overwhelming. Felt like we were in South-East Asia haha. So we're in Aladin's, and having looked through their extensive menu, we thought we had an idea of what to order. After telling the server what we wanted, he basically recommended a different variation of it - a premium version of it. All I could say was that he was very good at up-selling haha. And unsurprisingly, what we had was very good. We started with some popadoms and onion salad/chutney/dip before moving onto some curries. We had the Chicken Tikka Blast and the Lamb Korma, which are both rich, aromatic and really delicious. We had it with some plain rice and a garlic naan to share. Also, alcoholic drinks are BYO here, but the server recommended a place nearby to buy some at a small discount.
