#232 | SOCIAL HIDEOUT PARRAMATTA

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

Taro Hotcakes
Arigato Waffles
Umami Fries

We came to Social Hideout at Parramatta to try out some fun looking items on their menu. One thing we kept on seeing were the Taro Hotcakes, which came topped with vanilla ice cream, fresh fruits, nuts and maple syrup. The stack of purple pancakes were definitely beautiful and the plate in it's entirety was very colourful. You do get flavours of taro in the mix, so it was a fun Asian twist to the beloved traditional hotcakes. Of course, we can't just have something sweet without also having something savoury to balance it all out. We got the Arigato Waffles which had furikake chicken, waffles, cheddar, crispy bacon and miso hollandaise. I didn't even realise until now that we actually got two items that are basically from the same food family - hotcakes and waffles. Incredible! Haha. We never usually order this way, but I guess the two things that stuck out to us most were the hotcakes and waffles. An American inspired chicken and waffles dish with Japanese influences. Flavours were quite nice and again, it was just a fun dish to have. This place is definitely all about the fusion and quite experimental.
