#08 | TRAVEL DIARY: QUEENSTOWN

Queenstown - the resort town in New Zealand that's jam-packed with adventure activities and beautiful scenery. Arriving in the evening, the first thing we did after unloading was head out to find some food. Fergburger was recommended by a colleague of mine, who had visited Queenstown a few months before me. We had the 'Fergburger' and the 'Cock Cajun' with a side of chips. These burgers were as big as my face and really yum.

We picked up our hired car the next morning. We went with Go Rentals, who were super helpful and accommodating. I had to change my booking a number of times before coming over and they just made that process so easy. Today, we were going to bungy. Of all the adrenaline-fuelled activities on offer in Queenstown, we decided to go with the jump at Kawarau Bridge. Standing on the ledge; with half of my feet already hanging off it, was the scariest, most frightening situation I have ever been in; and I failed to jump on my first countdown. Apparently, the audience had a bit of a laugh watching. I did jump (was somewhat pushed) on my second attempt, and finally the deed was done. The rest of the afternoon was more relaxed. We had some lunch, visited a nearby beach, and then headed to the Skyline Queenstown complex for an amazing view of the world beneath us.

We were up early the next day to start our journey to Fox Glacier. It was 5 hours away, but the drive was very pleasant and scenic - gorgeous mountain ranges, beautiful blue water and luscious greens. As we got closer to Fox Glacier, the weather changed from blue skies and sunshine to wet and grey. We arrived at the site, grabbed some food and coffee at the Hobnail Cafe and then checked in for our guided walk on Fox Glacier. Even though we chose the more 'leisurely' route, walking on ice wasn't easy.

We finished off our trip with a sightseeing day cruise in Mildford Sound. My fingers were crossed that it wouldn't rain during our visit, but unsurprisingly, it did. It was still a good cruise; being in the splash zone of the waterfalls. Windy and wet, but so much fun.
