CHATSWOOD, SYDNEY
We celebrated Father's Day with a Sunday brunch at the much hyped about Tim Ho Wan at Chatswood. Dad absolutely hates waiting in line for anything, so we got here at 9.15am, and voila, no line. When we were in Hong Kong one year, my Dad actually stumbled upon Tim Ho Wan in Mongkok during one of his morning walk, but we didn't end up eating there because there was a massive line. I didn't realise it was a famous Michelin starred restaurant until after we came back; otherwise, I would have made us all wait it out.
What we had at Hong Kong's most famous Dim Sim restaurant (in the same order as pictured above):
Braised Chicken Feet with Abalone Sauce
Baked Bun with BBQ Pork
Vermicelli Roll with Shrimp
Steamed Egg Cake
Spring Roll with Egg White

Wasabi Salad Prawn Dumpling
Fish Maw with Prawn Paste
Beancurd Skin Roll with Pork and Shrimp

Glutinous Rice in Lotus Leaf

Tonic Medlar and Osmanthus Cake
I wouldn't consider the food here as anything spectacular, and portion sizes were a little smaller than some other Yum Cha restaurants in Sydney, but the flavours were alright and I would return again. The highlight of this restaurant are those BBQ Pork Buns - wrapped in a kind of sweet crispy shortbread biscuit instead of a traditional steamed fluffy dough. I don't think there was a table there that didn't order at least a plate of these.
