QUEENSTOWN, NEW ZEALAND
I couldn't do it on my first go. I was really nervous on the drive to Kawarau Bridge, but at the same time I was also looking forward to eating again, and sleeping again, and being able to just enjoy Queenstown after the jump. That was how nervous I was! With my harness strapped on, I waddled towards the ledge, waved at the camera, was given two countdowns, and then gently 'pushed' over the edge. To be fair, I needed the assistance. My legs went all stiff at the idea of jumping off, and the sneak peek at what's below during the countdown didn't help the situation. My brother was watching from the viewing platform and he told me afterwards that everyone else there had a great time laughing at me haha. But honestly, after the first step (or jump for others) off the ledge, the scary part is over, and once you feel the tug of the ropes on your legs and realise that it didn't snap, you'll start to enjoy swinging upside down. I'm not an adrenaline junkie, but I did have bungy jumping on the top of my list while in New Zealand. Although it wasn't the bravest or coolest jump there was (ever!), I did feel super proud of myself for doing it.
