#162 | FIRST BAVARIAN MEAL AT HOFBRAUHAUS

MUNICH, GERMANY

Pork Knuckle
Weisswurst

After a not so great morning with the small inconvenience we had with our Airbnb, our time at Hofbrauhaus honestly made up for our first night in Munich. After a quick drink at the English Garden earlier, we made our way to Hofbrauhaus for more beer and our first Bavarian meal. Stepping into Hofbrauhaus, the atmosphere immediately transforms. Traditional oompah music, lots of people and lots of food. We love it. It was so wonderfully lively and exciting. Unsure what to do at first, we walked around to find a seat. Having spotted an almost empty table, we sat down and grabbed the menu that was laying on the table. After a few minutes, a server came over to take our order. It all worked out perfectly haha. We had the Weisswurst which are traditional Bavarian veal sausages with sweet mustard and the Pork Knuckle with homemade gravy and potato dumpling. These white veal sausages are normally had for breakfast, but Hofbrauhaus had them on their all-day menu, and we were keen to try. So the way to eat it is to suck the insides out, and not eat the skin because it's not the easiest part to chew our bite into. The sweet mustard that came with it was really good. Both of our dishes were delicious! The potato dumpling wth the pork knuckle was a little unique; kind of spongey and chewy without much of a taste on its own, but definitely worth the try! Not long after the food arrived, we were joined by a friendly group from Norway. We had such a great night; the food, drinks, company and atmosphere. Truly one of the best and most fun dining experiences in Munich.
