#186 | BRUNCH AT THE USUAL CAFE

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

Kale Fritters
Hangry Breakfast Plate
Spanner Crab Scrambled Eggs
The Humble Bowl
Citrus Salmon

The Usual Cafe is in our local area so we've come by a good number of times for some food. And speaking of food, it's pretty good here. The Kale Fritters are our favourite. It may not look as colourful as some other dishes, but it is so yum! We were actually sad when we came in one time and they had taken it off the menu. We spent a long time thinking about what to order instead haha. Hopefully when the season changes and a new menu comes around, it'll be back! If you're a big eater or just like to have a little bit of everything, the Hangry Plate will take care of you. Bacon, chorizo, eggs, cherry tomatoes, avocado, spinach, haloumi, hash browns and toast. It also comes with mushrooms, but we asked them to omit it since we're actually not huge mushroom fans. The spanner crab and scrambled eggs on toast was interesting. It's cooked with miso butter, and the flavours are quite subtle. It wasn't bad, but trying it once was enough for us. Now we have something hearty and healthy! The Humble Bowl is loaded with broccoli, kale, edamame, cucumber, avocado, poached egg, haloumi, and beetroot puree on a bed of quinoa. It was refreshing, delicious and filling! Finally, the last dish to mention is the citrus salmon with a watercress salad, avocado and poached egg on a charcoal quinoa toast. The bread itself was a little earthy and grainy. The texture was quite nice. The dish was somewhat basic, but still simple done well and it was tasty. Well there you go. That was all that we've tried. We also usually get coffee and a bowl of fries with our meal when we're here. Both are considered our staples haha.
