BRUGES, BELGIUM
During our short visit to Belgium, we based ourselves in Brussels as that's where we spent most of our time. In planning for Belgium, I asked my partner where else we should visit. He suggested we watch a movie called In Bruges, and having enjoyed the film and how it was positively described as a 'f**king fairytale town', we decided that this was going to be our day trip destination. Bruges is not a large town, so you don't really need a lot of time to see the main sites. First thing we did was grab a hot chocolate and beelined for the Belfry, which was an attraction that was featured heavily in the film haha. After enjoying the view from the tower, we came back down and took a slow walk around town. We grabbed lunch at a restaurant near the Markt and then waffles from Chez Albert for dessert, which was the highlight of our visit. The waffles that is, not so much the lunch haha. Is Bruges THAT fairytale-like? Not really haha. But that's because I'm comparing it to so many other beautiful European cities we've seen. But I'm glad we went, it is a lovely place. We also got so many short video clips of my partner saying 'f**king Bruges', so the trip was totally worth it. This is also a line from the film, please don't judge us, we're actually well-behaved tourists haha!
